I've had a rather rough week, but I thank my lucky stars for Fridays and Walt Whitman. His poem, I Sing the Body Electric, puts things in perspective...
I have perceiv’d that to be with those I like is enough,
To stop in company with the rest at evening is enough,
To be surrounded by the beautiful, curious, breathing, laughing flesh is enough,
To pass among them or touch any one, or rest my arm ever so lightly round his or her neck for a moment, what is this then?
I do not ask any more delight, I swim in it as in a sea.
I've read that verse about 20 times while writing this post and it gives me shivers every time. This weekend, I get to spend time with my own beautiful, curious, breathing, laughing flesh. I get to watch my girl Mel sing with Taylor Swift on stage and hang with her after the show. Then my family and I are planning to play a round or two of golf for my dad's birthday on Labor Day.
Have a beautiful 3-day weekend surrounded by those you love. I'll see you again on Tuesday! Until then, here are a few fun links...
