Over the weekend, my parents celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. They met in high school and fell in love on a band trip to Europe. He played the drums. She played the bassoon. They attended college together, married after graduation and had two (bratty yet adorable) kids at 23 and 25. They raised us broke while paying off student loans and attending grad school. I'm not sure how they did it, but here they are. Forty years and one grandchild later, still going strong, still head over heels in love.
Thank you, Mom & Pop, for being an example. For teaching me how to love, forgive and persevere. As Hal and I near our 1-year anniversary, we are humbled and inspired by your commitment to one another. We aspire to follow your lead, so 40 years from now, we can celebrate the same.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
