Did you know that telling someone about your troubles leads to greater happiness? I always thought woe-is-me talk led to negativity. I couldn't have been further from the truth.
According to a controlled lab experiment at Winston-Salem State University, our memory has a "natural bias to keep tabs on the good stuff and gradually lose the emotional intensity of a bad event". In other words, telling your story makes the memory fade faster than if the event was never recounted.
This is difficult for me, because I don't like to sound like I'm complaining all the time. Do you tell your stories to others, or do you keep all negative thoughts to yourself?
