Now that I'm nearing the end of the wedding planning process (hooray!), there are few things that almost slipped my mind. And they're all things I thought about earlier in the year that I kept putting off. So here's my tips for future brides to be. Don't forget...
1. The wedding rings. Since my engagement ring didn't come as a set, and since Hal doesn't think about these sorts of things in general, we almost forgot ours. Thankfully, we pulled it together to have them made and shipped in the nick of time. Cheaply too, with the goal of upgrading later. Thank heavens for Etsy artisans!
2. The marriage license. This just fell through the cracks. And now we have to squeeze it into our jam packed schedule next week. Washington has a 3-day waiting period. So if we apply for it in person next Tuesday after Labor Day, we'll be in the clear. Barely.
3. The vows. My reoccurring nightmare was this: minutes before the ceremony, I realized I hadn't written my vows. And you know what? As soon as I forced myself down with a cup of tea and wrote out a draft, the anxiety dreams disappeared. I know a lot of people who wait until days before the wedding to write their vows. But for people like me, who stress about not having the right words to say, it's a good idea to write them as early as possible. I wish I wrote mine as soon as I got engaged! It would have saved me quite a few sleepless nights.
I'm sure come wedding day, I'll have 5 more things to add! Married friends, was there anything major you forgot to do before the big day?
