One of the perks of having a boyfriend in the board sports industry is receiving lots of samples. The other day, he brought me home a unique looking bracelet. I had never seen anything like it. He told me it was made out of a salvaged skateboard. Naturally, I had to share with you. Aren't they fun?
They're handmade by Portland designer, Lindsay Jo Holmes, owner of Maple XO, the original recycled skateboard jewelry. The patterns and colors you see are left behind from the original board... no extra paint added. Her materials are from friends and professional skateboarders, as well as local skate shops who give her their old boards in exchange for home-baked cookies. Smart girl.
